Compatible devices
Please note that MultiSoft does not sell hardware, so we cannot provide devices for you. However, we have a few proven partners who can do so.
Commercial mobile devices
MobileNAV works on almost every commercial mobile device and tablet, including all the big brands. They are the go-to choices for using MobileNAV for field sales or field service. However, for industrial use, they don’t always work as well.

Windows based barcode readers
- Built-in barcode scanner running on Windows CE
These scanners are normally having a built-in laser barcode reader
or area-imager, they are ruggedized, and they are running on Windows CE (or Windows Mobile or Embedded Handheld).
We support all vendors here. The only restriction is to run on Windows CE 5 or 6. We do not support CE 7. Some of the vendors are already integrated with their barcode scanning SDK, which means that if you install the MobileNAV app, it will just work out of the box.
These vendors are:
- Intermec
- Motorola/Symbol
- DataLogic
- Psion
- Delphi
- M3
- Casio
- CipherLab
- Ingenico
- and CHD, but we integrate new vendors from time to time
(upon partner request as well).
Other vendors can be used in “character mode” or “keyboard emulation” mode. For some models, we were also able to test ourselves in the test-house.
Handheld scanners:
Handheld scanners are a great choice if you are looking to use your MobileNAv in the warehouse. This category includes vehicle-mounted computers as well.

rugged mobile scanners:
These mobile computers are normally having built-in laser barcode reader or imager, they are ruggedized, and they are running on Android with 2G, 3G or 4G, BT and RDIF communication support.
The devices may contain GPS support for location services.

Android based barcode readers
There are a couple of special Android devices, called “Touch computers”, which has built-in scanners, and they are a bit ruggedized to use them in warehouse for example.

Barcode reading with keyboard emulation (HID) mode
Most of the built-in or external scanners do support keyboard emulation mode, which means, that when you scan a barcode, the barcode characters will be sent like you have just typed in via the keyboard.
MobileNAV supports keyboard emulation mode, if none of the above options suitable for your scanner. You just need to make sure that keyboard emulation is enabled on your scanner, and then execute the keyboard emulation mode configuration wizard in MobileNAV.
You can find the predefined barcodes for the configuration wizard here.

Barcode reader cradle for iOS devices
For iPhone, we support the Linea Pro or Infinea products.
These are basically cradles for iOS devices, and as a result, you will have “one” unit with barcode scanning enabled.

Barcode reading with camera integration
This is not the most optimal way of scanning barcodes, since it depends on the light conditions, and the quality of the barcode, but it works.
